I'm very was very exited when Mark contacted me about having a give away on my blog! They are offering one of their amazing pendants as the prize to one lucky person! But first - more about Mark, Stef and Home Studio's.



How did you decide on your shop name?
When we originally opened our Etsy shop we didn't sell pendants. We actually offered custom furniture and original paintings. Our home has always been a creative studio, hence the name Home Studio. Sometimes the studio spills over into the home a little more than we would like.

When did you start making pendants? Can you tell us a bit about the process in making a pendant?
We began making pendants in May of 2008. Prior to that Stefani had sold jewelry online and taught jewelry classes locally. Mark is an artist/designer and creates many of the designs which are printed out and sealed under a resin. We also use artwork from other sellers on Etsy. Our Scrabble pendant making has really evolved over the last year. We have tried many different methods to streamline our process in order to keep up with demand. We make pendants four hours a day mainly after we read to our kids and put them to bed. (Mark and Stef really do make each pendant.)

Are there other crafts you would like to try?
Stef would like to attempt soap making. She loves handmade soaps from Etsy. Mark would like to attempt ceramics in some form.

What or who inspires you?
Many times suggestions from our customers can be a great source of inspiration for new designs. Stef's idol is Coco Chanel and Mark's is Alexander Calder.

Do you have a day job?
HomeStudio is full time (more than full time) so yes, it is our day job. We are also an at-home Mom and Dad. We work six days a week, but take breaks to go to amusement parks, visit family and friends and go to swim lessons like everyone else. We enjoy our unique lifestyle and the freedoms it allows.

Where do you craft? What does your space look like? What would you love to add to it?
We recently moved and now have a loft in our home used for making/shipping our items. In the old home, we used our formal living room for these purposes. It was the first room people saw when coming into the house, but we thought "whatever". No one really uses a formal living room anyway, right? The new loft is very different as it is odd shaped with strange angles. It's been a challenge to fit 5 work tables PLUS storage. The nice thing is that it has plenty of windows and faces the ocean. Stef is a Feng Shui enthusiast so makes sure the room maintains simple but good "chi". That's important as up to 6 hours of some days can revolve just around shipping items.

What is the item in your shop you enjoyed making the most and why?
Mark enjoyed "Landscape 500" the most as it was one of his first paintings. It sold in a gallery for a really nice price and that was definitaly enjoyable.
