What Are You Reading?

Thank goodness for the local library! I would have spent thousnads of dollars on books over the last years (or not read anything) if it wasn't for the library. We have a relatively small one but have joined up with two other libraries in neighboring towns. This allows us access to more books. WOOHOO!!

I used to read Romance Novels by authors like Debbie Macomber, Nora Roberts, Fern Michaels & Sandra Brown. Hubby & boys started teasing me about all the "mushy" stuff in the books. So I swetched to murder mysteries, legal thrillers & espionage. They hadn't noticed I'd switched for a few months. One day hubby sarcastically asked if it was a good book I was reading. My reply "Yes! I'm only a quarter of the way through, and there are 4 dead people already!" The look on his face was priceless. They don't bug me any more.

Some of my favorite authors are Rachel Butler, Suzanne Brockmann, Kate Wilhelm, Robert Ludlum & Iris Johanson.

Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog

Just starting a book by Lisa Jackson called "Lost Souls". The prologue was "interesting" - we'll see how far I get.

What are you reading? Who are your favorite authors? I need some new reading material.

  2. Is there anything better really than a good book? That is my sleeping pill...and yes the better the book the faster I seem to fall asleep.

I also like Nora Roberts, especially her Irish Trilogies. If you want some good intrique books you need to try David Baldacci, James Patterson, John Grisham, and for a light fun read try Janet Evanovich Number series. They are a fast ready but you will fall in love with the with them...especially of Cop (her off and on again boyfriend and a really hunky PI named Ranger..they are mystries but funny and some sex thrown in..

  4. I am reading a John Grisham book right now. It is called "Playing for Pizza." It is pretty good so far. I will be giving it away on my blog as soon as I finish it.

I went through an Anne Rivers Siddons phase a few years back...I also have read every single Mary Higgins Clark book.

  5. I've been re-reading books by Jeffrey Archer lately! Give him a try for something a little different.
But, I prefer audio-books so I can keep crafting while someone else reads to me.

  8. I love reading so much, I have even figured out a way to knit while I read!

I don't read as many thrillers as I used to, but I'm still quite a fan of James Grippando...

(there might be only one p in that...I'm not a good speller)

  9. I am so far behind in my reading. I am currently reading a Kay Hooper novel..love her books. I also try to ready everything by James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, Iris Johansen and I enjoy Jodi Picoult. I thoroughly enjoy most of Nora Roberts' books - she is the only "romance" author I read.

  10. I just finished reading the first three books in the Stephanie Plum Bounty Hunter series by Janet Evonovich. I have read all 14 of them starting backwards. If you want a good chuckle with the same main characters, try reading this series. It is very popular. I saved Plum Crazy for last. I have just started "Bones" by Jonathan Kellerman. Also like anything by Lisa Scottoline.

  11. My friend let me borrow her copy of Angels and Demons. I already read (and loved) Da Vinci Code. And the movie version of Angels and Demons will be released May 15, 2009. I usually like to read the book, before I see the movie. I also think the book will probably be better than the movie.

  12. I love murder mysteries. Those are pretty much all I read, with a few exceptions. James Patterson is great. My guy makes fun of me because once I start reading a book I can't seem to put it down until it's done, forgetting about everything else.

  14. At the moment, I'm not reading anything but look at a stack of books and magazines I've yet to read. I'm a slow reader but retain pretty well what I read.
I'm not a fiction reader. When I read books, they are mostly biographies and autobiographies.

  15. I love reading, fiction mostly, I'm not really into auto/biographies. I'm just about to start 'The Hour I First Believed' by Wally Lamb. I've read his previous two books and enjoyed them immensely.

Another author whose work I like is Jennifer Crusie. 'Welcome To Temptation' was fantastic...lots of laughs and a great read >^..^<
