Updates

Don't have anything specific to post about today. So I thought I'd update on some other posts that I've done.

GARDENING:
This is a pick of what my garden looks like today. I have my seeds - the asparagus roots are apparently coming closer to planting time. Will try and take pics of the garden as the summer progresses and post them.

The snow needs to melt, though it's been quite warm the last few days. (+6C tues.) Today's high is supposed to be -4C. It's still freezing at night - which is a good thing - don't want the snow to melt too fast and have flooding. Manitoba gets a lot of water from North Dakota and they have a lot of snow!! We have a creek that runs past the west side of our yard. This is what it looks like today.

The water should be on the lower part of the yard in a day or two. In 1997 we had to sand bag the house to keep the basement from flooding, hopefully that won't happen this year.

BOOKS
A few people suggested reading the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, when I did my post on books. So I went to the local library. The happened to have it in - so I read it. The book was actually quite good and now I'm waiting for book 2, "Two for the Dough" , book three came in tues., "Three to get Deadly". If they are as good as book one - I'll probably read the whole series in the next few months.

I'm almost done "Into the Fire" by Suzanne Brockmann. This is part of her "Trouble Shooter" series. I've read all the others and found out there are 2 more coming out this year!! WOOHOO! Can't wait!

BIRTHDAY
My birthday is in April. There will be two give aways on my other blog - but I'm thinking of doing something on this blog too. Something just for my followers. What would you like to see? Something I've made or a gift certificate for my shop? Any ideas? All ideas are welcome!

  1. I knew you would love the Janet Evonich books..Stephanie is a hoot, Lula..well she is just something else. Everyone should have a Gramma like hers..and then we have Joe and Ranger...Lord every woman should have one or both in her life. I'll take Ranger any day of the week :) I'm waiting for #15 to come out...

  2. Wow! Your garden makes mine look like it's ready to sprout!! (At least I should be able to begin planting in 5-6 weeks.)
Isn't Stephanie great? I love her and can't wait for new books. Hopefully, Janet doesn't grow tired of her anytime soon. I call these "murder mysteries lite." I love a quick read.
When you finish that series, you might try Joanne Fluke's series about Hannah Swensen and her cookie bakery. (She bakes cookies while solving murders.)Every story includes real recipes!

  3. Love Stephanie Plum! But prefer to listen to them than to read them. The reader is incredible. And, I can kill 2 birds with one stone. I can "read" and craft at the same time!

  4. There are still patches of snow melting on my little acre ... but my main vegetable garden is exposed to the rays of the warming sun. I even put a short row of pea seeds in this week!

    Enjoy!

  5. I can't wait to see your garden progress as the summer goes on, Audrey! I've got some seeds I want to start yet, but haven't. I think I still have time, since we can't put tomatoes out until the end of May/early June anyway. :)

  9. I love the Stephanie Plum books! I've never listened to them but I think I may try that. They are such fun books and I like Karen's idea of "reading" and crafting at the same time! :)
