Winter/Snow

It's winter in Manitoba, Canada. Over the last few days on blogs and in Etsy forums I've heard/read people complaining about the cold. HMMMM. Yesterday was the clincher for me. I was an a blog and the writer was complaining about the +53F temps they were having where she lived. She was cold! EXCUSE ME? Okay after more reading I found out that she lives in Florida. 53F - give me a break! Lasst week school was cancelled 3 days because of the -49F temps was were having (includes wind chill) We had highs of -22F without the wind!!! I was quite happy that school was cancelled, at least I didn't have to go out and start the school bus.

I was also emailing back & forth with another woman in Virginia who's son was hoping for enough snow to make a snowman. We have the snow & I would love to send them some, but because of the cold temps we're having the snow doesn't stick together to make a snowman.

So I thought will all the complaints & talk about the winter - I would post some pics of our yard and what it looks like now. You will notice in some of the pictures that my hubby is blowing snow so we can get off the yard. The joys of living in flat country with snow and wind.

  5. I know how you feel...Saw that guy on CNN in Chicago talking about the cold....They don't know what cold is...it was so cold here also -32 below zero that water froze and blew away before it hit the ground....but in defense of the people in warm climates...their cold is just as bad to them as ours is to us....

  10. Beautiful pics, guess we have to just bundle up with a few extra layers and put another log on the fire. Spring is on its way. Have a great day.

  13. That is cold - I was just working on a blog post for tomorrow about the "winter blahs". I have nothing to complain about :) (oh it's 10 degrees here in Maine today)

  14. I'm in Brisbane, California, and I couldn't imagine living in that cold a climate, but I guess it's all what you're used to. A little over a week ago, we were having strangely warm weather in the 60's and 70's here in the San Francisco Bay Area. It's colder, windier, and a bit wet the last few days, but I can't complain, and we could definitely use some rain.

    Sending you warm thoughts...

  17. I don't mind the cold...of course I work from home so I don't need to go outside in it everyday :). It did get up to +11 last week here in Edmonton (that was a pleasant surprise!).

  18. As a fellow Canadian, I so concur!
Manitoba is usually colder than we are here in Ontario, but it's been really cold here the past while. Last night, it reached -25 degrees Celsius......Brrrrrrrrrr! The upside for me is I've managed to photograph some beautiful ice formations. I wish you well and keep up the great work you do.

  19. Despite the hardships of enduring such deep cold as you describe, Manitoba sure looks beautiful in the wintertime. Thank you for sharing such gorgeous photos.
