Was trying to figure out what to do with all my tomatoes. Happened to go out for coffee with a friend last week, and she was making pizza sauce! Got her to email me the recipe - so for two evenings this last week I made pizza sauce. Michelle also uses it in Spaghetti and Lasagna, which we really love!
Pizza Sauce
12 cup of chopped tomatoes
1 green pepper
1 cup chopped onion
Cook 1-1 1/2 hours. Put through a juicer, blender or food processor.
ADD:
1 1/2 teaspoons oregano
1 1/2 teaspoons basil
6 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons salt
In a spice ball put: 1 clove garlic, 1/2 bay leaf, 1/2 teaspoon pepper kernels.
Cook 1 1/2 hours, then add 4 - 5.5oz cans tomato pasted to thicken.
Can or freeze.
Sounds totally yummy!
ReplyDeleteThis is worth keeping. We use pizza sauce instead of spaghetti sauce - better flavor.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.

I just came from another blog that posted about home made pizza and then here with the sauce. I think it's a sign, I must have pizza :)
ReplyDeleteI have a ton of tomatoes in the fridge right now, maybe I'll spend the morning making sauce.
I just came in to tell you this turned out great for me and my family really enjoyed it and we froze the remainder...
