Homemade Pizza Sauce

Was trying to figure out what to do with all my tomatoes.  Happened to go out for coffee with a friend last week, and she was making pizza sauce!  Got her to email me the recipe - so for two evenings this last week I made pizza sauce.  Michelle also uses it in Spaghetti and Lasagna, which we really love!

Pizza Sauce
12 cup of chopped tomatoes
1 green pepper
1 cup chopped onion

Cook 1-1 1/2 hours.  Put through a juicer, blender or food processor.

1 1/2 teaspoons oregano
1 1/2 teaspoons basil
6 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons salt

In a spice ball put: 1 clove garlic, 1/2 bay leaf, 1/2 teaspoon pepper kernels.

Cook 1 1/2 hours, then add 4 - 5.5oz cans tomato pasted to thicken.

Can or freeze.

It's really easy to make and smells exactly like pizza sauce!  Will be making more next year :)

  1. This is worth keeping. We use pizza sauce instead of spaghetti sauce - better flavor.

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. Thanks for sharing this recipe, I've always wanted to make home made pizza sauce, but thought it would be difficult. This sounds so easy.

  3. Oh my YUM !!! We grew some tomatos then got 50 HUGE ones from a friend!!! I didn't think of pizza sauce either !

I didn't generate that color pallette it's from thegrittybird but you can generate your own from a photo on :

It lets you up load a photo and make a pallette of your own : )

  4. I just came from another blog that posted about home made pizza and then here with the sauce. I think it's a sign, I must have pizza :)
I have a ton of tomatoes in the fridge right now, maybe I'll spend the morning making sauce.

  5. Thanks for the yummy recipe! I posted a link to it on my blog:
