We always had a dog on the farm when I was young. Had cats too, and liked to play with kittens, but always loved the dogs more :) So for me, opening the dog boarding kennel in March was a great idea! It doesn't matter how bad a day I'm having, or how stressed I might be - go out to play with the dogs, and everything is better for a while. They are always happy to see me, never in a bad mood, and don't complain if I'm a few minutes late.
Rascal, our dog:
Here are some quotes I found about dogs:
"If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater. . . suggest that he wear a tail."
- Fran Lebowitz
"You can say any fool thing to a dog, and the dog will give you this look that says, `My God, you're RIGHT! I NEVER would've thought of that!'"- Dave Barry
"Old dogs, like old shoes, are comfortable. They might be a bit out of shape and a little worn around the edges, but they fit well."
- Bonnie Wilcox 'Old Dogs, Old Friends'
"Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot little puppies."
- Gene Hill
I've finally started remembering to take photo's of the dogs that have been here. These are some of my favorites so far :)
Electra
Fenway (playing with the rope)
Matrix
"The more people I meet the more I like my dog."

Not right now, we don't. We had a yellow lab mix once and then we had a beagle mix.
ReplyDeleteWe had an Irish Setter, Duffy (on papers: Scarlet Lady Duffington) - she was the best. Once, while walking through a cattle pasture a herd decided to intimidate the 4 of us. Duffy, a pointer, suddenly acted like a shepherd while we climbed the trees at the creek!
ReplyDeleteAt the moment we have one dog, but before December we had two. The first half of their lives was lived with a friend of mine who had to give them up because she couldn't find a place that allowed dogs.
ReplyDeleteSo the one we have now, Nala is about 16 years old. If you would like to see a pic http://www.dogster.com/dogs/611128
Nala's sister Smokey we lost to heart failure in December. I really miss her because she gave a lot of love back, Nala is a little cranky now a days. Here's her pics http://www.dogster.com/dogs/611124
We have a lab mix we rescued as a puppy from a local rescue shelter. Her name is Annie and she's been with us for 3 years. I can't even remember what it was like without her! Love the quotes!!!
ReplyDeleteWe had a Chihuahua named Bruiser for a while, but he went to live with my mother to keep her company. Then, we had a German shorthair named Raja, and then we bought a mastif named Ajax. Sadly, they are gone now. Miss them a lot.
ReplyDeleteI like both cats and dogs but dogs are also my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThey do have a way of cheering you up. Duke always seems to know when I need someone to sit close by and just be there :)
We had a dog, but a couple of years ago we had to say goodbye sadly enough. We might decide to find another dog to love in the future.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you had opened a kennel. I love dogs too although I don't have one. I have had dogs in the past though.

We don't have the space for a dog here in town...hopefully someday we can get back to the country and have room for a dog to run.
ReplyDeleteI love the pics! I have always been a cat person, but DH is allergic so now we have a toy poodle mix puppy :) She is a little over 7 months right now. SUPER cute! Her mom was a toy poodle, she is black and fuzzy and adorable. Not sure what her other half is, maybe chihuahua or terrier of some kind.
ReplyDeleteMy baby is a 5 year old australian shepherd, Raliegh. I was lucky enough to find him at a local shelter when he was about 1 year old. Someone must not have understood the energy requirements of this breed. I've only had aussies and am very lucky to have him in my life!
ReplyDeleteI love that you have a kennel. I love doggies too. I think your Rascal is a handsome man :)
ReplyDeleteSounds fun! No dogs here, but MANY over the years!
