She is offering a wonderful prize from her shop - but first we need to find out more about Suzanne!
How did you decide on your shop name? Why did you start your business?
Many people ask me "What does Petite Krott actually mean??". Well, it is a French Acadian affectionate term we say all the time (Petite crotte), which when directly translated into English means "Little Turd". It really is an affectionate term that could be synonymous with "Little cutie" or "Little sweetheart". My father would always refer to my daughter as "une petite crotte", and so was born La Petite Krott Creations because everything I do is for her!
I started making cloth diapers before my daughter was born, but I only started making them to sell almost one year ago. Cloth diapering has grown a lot since my daughter was born more than 3 years ago. I had a hard time finding them in my area, so I made my own. I want other mommies out there to be able to have the option to use cloth, and at reasonable prices.
When did you start crafting/sewing?
I have been sewing and knitting since I was a child. My grandmother taught me to knit when she'd come over to babysit or visit us. I have many great memories of that time together. I remember making my own Barbie clothes and furniture as well, all sewn by hand. One creation was a sofa framed with wood. I sewed some cushions for it and in the end it actually became a sofa bed that could be folded up or opened up for Barbie and her friends.
I learned to crochet much later, about 8 years ago. I also enjoy scrapbooking, which I am just starting to get into.
Where do you craft/sew? What would you love to add to your space?
I craft in my home. I have a sewing space in the spare bedroom where I sew up my diapers, and I usually knit and crochet while watching TV. I would love to have a brand new sewing machine. The one I currently use was my mother's and is about as old as I am! I would also love to have a space just for myself, that I don't have to share.
Do you have a day job?
I am a biology lab instructor at a local university. I was off for the summer, but will be starting up again soon. Crafting is only a hobby right now for me.
What is the item in your shop you enjoyed making the most and why?
The Ribbie is one of my favorite items to make. I designed the pattern myself, and it turned out really great! I was really impressed with myself. I love to knit in general though, I find it very relaxing. I love choosing coordinating colours, and I love to create custom woolies. Customers have some great ideas when it comes to coordinating colours and styles.
