Oven Apple Pancake and a Sale!

We love this recipe. I make it when I have time - takes about 1 hour start to finish, but is well worth the time and effort.

Oven Apple Pancake

1/4 cup butter or hard margarine
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
ground cinnamon, light sprinkle
2 apples, peeled, cored and sliced in wedges
3 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 cup flour

Melt butter in 9 inch pie plate in 425F oven. Stir brown sugar into melted butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Overlap apples in single layer. Cook in oven for 10 minutes.

Beat eggs with spoon in bowl. Add milk, salt and flour. Stir to moisten. Don't try to smooth out small lumps. Pour over apples. Return to oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Cut into wedges.

How NOT to make little Bundt Cakes

I received this amazing pan from Nordic Ware to review/give away. It makes 6 little bundt cakes. The first ones I tried with a recipe that came with the pan, worked amazing! Decided to make some pumpkin bundt cakes last week. They taste amazing - however, I definitely put too much batter in each one. Made a huge mess in my oven.  They are supposed to come out of the pan as 6 separate cakes - not one big one :)

Luckily I have a self cleaning oven - but it sure didn't smell very good the first 2 hours it was cleaning.  Will have to be more careful next time :)

I've made a Treasury!

It's definitely getting colder here, I can feel that winter is coming. So needless to say - I'm trying to find ways to keep warm :) That's what inspired me to do this treasury. I've actually made purchases from the shops #2 & #3 in this treasury - gifts for someone and myself for Christmas :) If you're cold - check out these amazing shops for something to keep you warm this winter.

Friday Feature - Getting Ready for Winter

I live in Manitoba Canada, where winter is really really cold.  Luckily it's a dry cold (or so they tell us).  We can get our first snowfall as early as October or as late as December, we just never know.  Usually it's all gone by May.  When I have to get onto the school bus at 7:30am and the wind is howling with temps of -40 I need items that will keep me warm.  Here are a few that I found that would really help me.

You can find this amazing SUPER SOFT Red Scarf - Cowl at Lori Looms. She has scarves and fingerless gloves in a variety of colors. This is my favorite and would go great with my winter jacket.

I've never tried fingerless gloves, but I think I might have too. While searching for something to purchase for Logan's girlfriend, I decided that some fingerless gloves in pink (her favorite color) would be great. I ordered them from Baby Nest. She didn't have them in pink, but bought the wool and had them made just hours after I asked about them! Amazing!! Can't wait to get them, might have to order a pair for myself.

Last but not least - a hat is needed to keep the brain warm and running :) Sweater Nana has this really cute hat! I can just imagine the looks I'd get from the kids on the bus if I wore this - let me tell you - it's tempting!

If you happen to have cold winters - check out these wonderful shops. They definitely can help you stay warm and cozy.

I have to STOP!!

I used to collect snowmen, but now it seems to be journals, note books, note pads etc. Why? I don't even use that many! But every time I see a cute one on sale I have to get it! My drawer is 1/2 full of brand new paper in all shapes, sizes and colors.  But now I've decided to stop buying any paper products until the drawer is empty!! - well - mostly empty :)

Do you have this problem? Or maybe you collect something else and can't seem to stop.

Wednesday Weather

This is our weather for the next few days.  Monday the rain started, it's very wet here :(

Good thing I didn't wash the school bus last week, it's a mess now.
Do you see what's supposed to happen tomorrow?!!  I can't believe it.  That would really suck - I'm not ready for snow.

Just for reference:  0C = 32F  and 50kmh = 31mph

Feature Friday - Angels

I could fill my house with all different styles of angels. If only I had more room :)
Went searching on Etsy for some beautiful Angels and it didn't take long to find ones that I would love to own, all made from different materials.

Jane's Alley is filled with wonderful jewelry, but what really caught my eye was this sterling silver necklace! Isn't it beautiful?

Wood is one of my favorite materials to work with and to look at. It's amazing what some people can make with a few pieces of different types of wood. Timber Treasures is a very new shop on Etsy with only a few pieces, but they are really really lovely!

When I see stained glass - it makes me think of Church :) Probably from all the different cathedrals I saw while in Europe. Crystal Cave has a few pieces that would fit right in. How does she do it?

Please visit these three wonderful shops and see what else they have to offer. Remember - Christmas is almost here!

Dishes - How do you wash yours?

When the boys were little we had a dishwasher for a while.  But it was a used one, very used, and didn't last long.  Money was tight, so we didn't replace it.  Once the boys were old enough to help - they would have to dry the dishes while I washed.  This was called "Mother/Son Bonding Time".

When Logan was about 14 he asked if we could get a dishwasher.  I asked what would happen to our Mother/Son bonding?  He thought it would just be faster :)  Funny boy!  Eventually the boys wanted to do the dishes alone, so they could listen to their MP3 player instead of talking to old mom.  Well!

A few years ago Grandma knit me some dish clothes and I love them!  There is nothing like a hand knit/crocheted dish cloth.  In September I hosted a give away for Hillbilly Jill who crochets wonderful dish clothes!! She has a club membership that can be purchased. There is a 6 Month Membership for $15 or a 12 Month Membership for $30 - each with FREE Shipping anywhere.

I bought the 6 month membership, needed some new dish clothes (hinted that I liked the orange one). Got my first one 2 weeks ago, and have used it many times and washed it many times since. This is an amazing dishcloth!! Can't wait to get the next 5 :)

How do you do your dishes?

ARG!!!!

We lost our internet connection yesterday afternoon!  Brad wasn't to upset - but I started going through withdrawal at about 7pm when I should have been getting today's post ready and posting a give away on my other blog.
The internet was finally back when I got home after my bus run.  Good Grief!  Am I addicted or what?

Friday Feature - Believe

Sometimes one word says it all.  This is one of my favorites.  To me it says "Believe" in yourself, "Believe" you can do anything, "Believe" God loves you, "Believe" you are special, etc.  Here are three wonderful ways to show off on of my favorite words.

This beautiful Fabric Wood Art is from Light & Reflection a  shop on Etsy. Isn't it wonderful? This would look great in my craft room :)

This darling wood sign is from Sunshine Girl Designs another new shop on Etsy. This would be perfect for on a door, or even hanging on a wall.

These really cute letters are from Grammys Country Porch. This shop has some really nice holiday/seasonal items. But these letters are my favorite :)

If you have time - please check out what all three shops have. They are all wonderful!

What does the word "Believe" mean to you?

Art by LT

I love art! Any kind of art really. When ever I find a really great shop on Etsy that has unique and wonderful art pieces I stare at them for quite a while wondering what the inspiration was for the piece, how it was painted, etc. Art by LT is a shop I could look at for hours :)

*Where are you from? Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m originally from New Jersey, but I’ve lived in California (twice), Florida (twice), Kentucky, and New York State. I currently have my art studio in Ithaca, NY, which is in the beautiful Finger Lakes region.

*How did you decide on your shop name? Why did you start your business?
When I built my first website 12 years ago, I knew I couldn’t name it LynneTaetzsch.com or no one would ever find it. I settled for Art By LT or ARTBYLT.COM.

*What or who inspires you?
I am emotionally inspired by everything that happens in my life, the good, the bad and the ugly. Visually I am inspired by the natural world and the changes that develop through all seasons.

I’ve been making some kind of art or craft since I was a kid, but in my early twenties when I was at Cooper Union art school in New York City, I fell in love with the abstract expressionists. I’ve been painting abstract art ever since, first in oils and now in acrylics.

*What’s your supply addiction; is there a specific color or type of supply you just can’t pass up?
When people walk into my studio, they always go gaga over my shelving unit filled with acrylic paint tubes, all lined up in order by color. When I’m in the middle of a painting, I don’t want to run out of the color I need at that moment, so I always keep a good stock of paints.

*Which item in your shop did you enjoy making the most and why?
I have abstract drawings as well as giclee prints of my paintings available on my Etsy shop. The drawings are a lot of fun to do because I know it won’t matter if I mess one up. That allows me to be freer than I might be when I paint. But I’m pretty loose most of the time when I’m making art.

*Are there other places on the net we can find you?
You can find my complete portfolio of works available on my website at http://www.ARTBYLT.COM. I also have an art blog at http://www.abstract-art-blog.net/ and can be found on Facebook as well: http://www.facebook.com/pages/ARTBYLT/82866465808?v=wall&viewas=716422662.

WW - Pumpkin Pie Anyone?

Well - they will be pie one day :)  They are from my Garden!
