Books into Purses and More!

I found this amazing shop that recycles used books to make the most wonderful purses! How do people come up with these ideas? The BusyBeeHive also has very pretty pillows and this amazing stained glass creation!

*Where are you from?
Born and raised in Northeast Ohio. Tell us a bit about yourself. I was a florist for 20 years. I have been a crafter since childhood with my mom and sister. I started creating stained glass as a hobby with my sister. As you can guess, stained glass is a very expensive hobby. Thats when I realized I could get creative with fabric as it comes in an array of colors and patterns and it was much more forgiving than glass!
*How did you decide on your shop name?
The shop was named the Busybeehive because there is always something going on here. You will never know what your going to see.I have friends and family that are also artists that I am sure I will have some of their creations listed. My son is a Pin Stripe artist and his fiance is a Graphic Design major. So there is creativity everywhere.

*What types of items do you have?
An abstract stained glass panel, art quilts, vintage linens recycled into designer pillows and lots of recycled book purses.

*What’s your supply addiction? I am a known fabric-holic.I am always looking for dog and cat fabric. I make quilts with a dog or cat theme and donate them to the local rescue to use a fundraisers. I currently work with 2 rescues. Also recycling old books and linens into new treasures.

*Do you have a blog? The shop has a facebook page and I blog on that. Please become a fan. I will be having frequent give aways on this site.

*What do you do when you’re not being an artist?
I am always creating something. Quilting is a big hobby for me. Volunteering for the local dog and cat rescue, and anything to do with classic cars and drag racing. My hubby is a drag racer. We are definitely car fanatics.

EFA artists helping animals - A collection of artists on Etsy.com who love and help animals, many of whom donate a portion of their sales to animal rescues. Search "team efa" and First Friday Art Walk on etsy takes place online globally on the first Friday of every month. To list, or find items by participants search tag: "firstfridayartwalk"under all items in etsy's search. Let your fingers do the walking and shopping!

Also I volunteer for 2 animal rescues. Roses Rescue Rootstown Ohio www.rosesrescue.net and PAWS Public Animal Welfare Society Cleveland Ohio - www.pawsohio.org
If it gets one dog or cat adopted it will be worth it.

*Which item in your shop did you enjoy making the most and why?
The abstract stained glass. Glass will always be my first love.

*Are there other places on the net we can find you?

  7. Wow! How super original!
I'm torn between being sorry for the books to be torn instead of being read, but bags made out if books is an awesome idea!
