Why I needed new Bowls

So I bought this wonderful yellow Tupperware bowl for making cookies and cinnamon buns. Decided on Friday that we should have fresh cinnamon buns for coffee break. Mixed the dough and put it in the oven to rise.

When I rise dough in the oven - I warm up the oven a bit then turn it off once I put the bowl in. For some reason I didn't think it was warm enough, or the dough was to slow, so I turned the oven on again to warm it up a bit, thinking I would turn it off in a minute or two. You know what's coming don't you?

Luke came home (hadn't seen him for 4 weeks) just as I turned the oven back on. Forgot about it until it beeped when it reached 350 degrees. Went running to the oven right away - but it was too late. The bowl just wasn't the same.

Yes - it still is a bowl, but Tupperware had these really lovely red ones on sale - so I bought them. Aren't they pretty?

I will be way more careful with these bowls - hopefully I've learned my lesson.

  1. LOL - Many years back Tupperware sold a piece called 'the ham keeper'. It was lovely and shaped like a ham. My newly-wed cousin baked her first Christmas ham in that ham keeper. Needless to say none of us ever let her forget about that.

  2. Yes, I've melted stuff in the oven before... it's always bad and also, wow, does it stink!

Those red bowls are awesome too!

  6. Another great chapter from The Book of Audrey. LOL But I'm a member of the "melted bowl club" too. Did Luke ever get a cinnamon roll?

  7. When we were first married I worked long hours so often I would put dinner together and leave instructuions for my husband ( who doen't cook!) . My most fond memory is coming home to the strangest smell ever and asking him what he put in the oven. He replied it was the turkey breast I'd left. I popped open the oven and sure enough there was a turkey breast ....roasting with the plastic wrap hermetically sealed around the whole breast. It looked fake all shiny and smooth - LOL. He didn't realize he was supposed to remove it!

  8. Don't feel bad. I did it years ago.
I left my best tupperware near a burner at someone's house in their small small kitchen.
