Remembrance Day/Veteran's Day

Every November 11 we in Canada "celebrate" Remembrance Day. Most every town has ceremonies in the morning. The Poppy symbolizes Remembrance Day and many people wear one for the week previous.

This poem is said at every Ceremony across the country.

In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
by John McCrae

And to all my American Friends - I hope you have a great Veteran's Day.

May we never forget the past and hope for a better future.

  6. I couldn't find a poppy here unfortunately, but the sentiment remains the same which is the most important thing.
