That's Sew Sarah

That's Sew Sarah is a wonderful shop with amazing bags!! Sarah is from Windsor Ontario Canada and has had her shop on Etsy since Nov. 2008. She uses new material, vintage material she finds at the thrift store that can be recycled, and sweaters to make her purses. I asked Sarah why her bags where named after females, and she responded by saying that they were named after some of the females in her life, either family or friends.

How did you decide on your shop name?
I was driving home one night at midnight and it just came to me. And since my name is Sarah and that's what I do (SEW) I found it appropriate. And when someone looks at one of my purses I want them to think "That's Sew Sarah"

When did you start sewing and who taught you how to sew?
I started sewing when I was a kid. My grandma and my mom taught me. I started by making hair scrunchies and barbie clothes. Than I moved on to making clothing when I was older.

What is your favorite fabric to work with?
I love to work with denim and especially vintage fabric. I love all the fun, bright colours and patterns and textures.

What or who inspires you?
My faith in God is what inspires me. Without Him I seriously don't think I would be where I am or doing what I'm doing.

Are there other crafts you would like to try?
I have tried quite a few. But one I've always wanted to try is glass blowing.

What is the item in your shop you enjoyed making the most and why?
I love making my Rachel purses/totes. They're named after my twin sister and it's the purse that started getting me into making and selling handmade purses. I love combining the denim with vintage fabrics.
